Beckoning to the Great Beyond is a short overture for full orchestra in a cinematic, melodic style. It was composed in the summer of 2022 as a graduate thesis for the Masters of Fine Arts “Music Composition for the Screen” program at Columbia College Chicago. In this piece, the question: “Are we alone in the universe?” is asked and answered, in the spirit of a benevolent traveler, bringing wisdom and sharing interstellar prosperity with all humankind.
Originally arranged for a Hollywood session orchestra at the iconic Newman Scoring Stage at Fox Studios, this revised orchestration has been adapted to accommodate a standard orchestral instrumentation. Suited for collegiate or advanced high school orchestras looking for a colorful and rousing concert opener.
